This week's topic: Drink To Read With

Honestly, sweet tea.
But, I'm kind of picky about my sweet tea. It has to be the right temperature (ice cold), right amount of sweetness, and homemade tastes way better than any of that stuff they sell in stores. (Believe me, I have tried.) I'm also lazy about making the tea. It's not a lot of work or even time consuming, but it does require me to be in the kitchen AND pay attention to it. You also have to add the sugar in at the right time or it doesn't melt properly. When it's good, it's amazing, but when it's not... it's mediocre.
So, usually, I end up not drinking it at all.
Usually I drink soda and more lately have been trying to add water to that as well.
Not, into the soda, but just a glass of water instead of a soda.
It's going okay. It's a process.
Oh... and I love hot tea when it's actually cold and not humid. My favorite is Celestial Seasonings Sleepytime with Vanilla.

  1. I've never learned to like tea - hot or cold. I do make sweet too for my husband, but not as often as he would like.

    1. Lol, I just can't stand having to wait around to add the sugar. Although I looked at the booklet and it explains how to make "syrup" which I might look into for fixing the problem. (You boil water and then add the amount of sugar. Let it dissolve. Then it cools a bit and you add it into the pitcher.)

  2. I can tolerate drinking tea, but admittedly it's not a favorite. My mom really likes sweet tea. I had to give up soda years ago and haven't looked back since. Sometimes I'll have a Sprite or a uncaffienated root beer, but it isn't often. I love water. It is really the only drink that quenches my thirst anymore.

    1. I NEED to give up soda. However, I don't like coffee (unless it's that 7-11 vanilla coffee, which I'm told isn't coffee because it's almost white) and tea doesn't have the right amount of caffeine. Although, now that my daughter is back in school, it may be a bit easier.

    2. That's my husband's problem too. He needs the caffeine. Other than causing me health issues, caffeine never affected me in that way so it wasn't hard to stop drinking it.

  3. I've never made Sweet Tea myself. It sounds very good though. But if it's a lot of work I probably won't be making it a lot too.
I love drinking coffee. And especailly the coffee my husband makes. But I drink a lot of water during the day too. I rarely drink soda.
Thanks for sharing your favorite and joining!

    1. It's definitely not a lot of work, but more just waiting around. The sugar has to be put in at the right time when the water is the hottest. I received a new tea maker for Mother's Day and I haven't figured it out completely. (It's a nice tea maker, but I kind of miss my old tried and true plastic one.)

I should drink water more and quit soda/caffeine.

  4. I'm not a sweet tea fan . . . too sweet for me. But you are right, you have to make it just right or it just isn't the same. ;)

I'm a water drinker all day. Coffee in the morning, iced tea/hot tea in the afternoon depending on the weather, and wine at night.

    1. I live "in the south" so it's kind of a staple here.
      That and lemonade.

I need to drink more water. I'm using a habit tracking app and it's helping, but... I really don't like water.
