This week's topic: Book That Made Me Cry

Oh, I should have looked ahead last week! I've been a bit busy lately and fallen behind on doing my entries ahead of time. I will say, Me Before You by Jojo Moyes is definitely one, but .... I used that one last week for favorite love story. (And I actually had another book in there!!!)

I do cry at almost every single movie at least once and some TV shows. I rarely cry at books. Something about the medium is a bit difference. Don't get me wrong, I do FEEL things, just don't go through the physical expression. (I also don't laugh out loud at books much either. There are one or two, but not many.)

So I guess I'll go with the most recent book that made me cry, which was also very good and was my first review on this blog.

A Dog's Purpose - W. Bruce Cameron

It's a book about a dog who keeps reincarnating to find his true purpose.

I cried throughout the whole damned thing.
(Still recommended.)

  1. I hadn't heard about A Dog's Purpose until the movie came out, but yeah, I know it would make me cry. I skipped the book and the movie.

    1. I watched the movie first, cried the whole time. Waited a few months, read the book, cried the whole time. Lol!

  2. I think I'm the only one on the planet who couldn't get into Me Before You or any of Moyes's other books. Oh, well. I'm not much of a crier, especially with books and movies.

    1. I cry at almost every movie!

I can see Me Before You not being everyone's cup of tea, but it definitely hit me in a way I wasn't expecting. I am not particularly interested in the sequel. It's one of those that should stand on it's own.

  3. My students kept asking me when the movie came out if I'd seen it, and I staunchly told them I wouldn't watch it. I knew it would make me cry so horribly. I cry at everything - books and shows alike. I cry at weddings, too. I'm sensitive.

    1. I think I said it above, but I cried through the whole movie and cried through the whole book. They were good cries, but it was definitely a lot of crying. (Even Me Before You, I only cried at the end!)

      I also cry at weddings.

  4. That sounds like a fun read! I haven't heard about it before. But books and movies about animals definitely make me cry easy. Not that takes so much otherwise! LOL!
Thanks for sharing your favorite and joining up! ;)

    1. It is a very sweet book and I'd recommend it to anyone who loves animals (especially dogs), but there are parts that are not easy to read.

  5. I haven't read A Dog's Purpose, but I know the movie trailer itself got me teary-eyed. So, I imagine the book would too!

I have a really hard time with books about animals dying and prefer not to read them.

    1. I would definitely not recommend this book for you. The main dog is reincarnated quite a few times so dies more than once. It is a good book that just made me remember all the pets I've loved and lost, but it was definitely emotional roller coaster.
