Have you ever bought a book because you liked its cover art? -Billy @ Coffee Addicted Writer

Of course I have!
Haven't we all?

The first and only one I remember was some Nora Roberts book. It was greatly against my better judgment given my general aversion to romance novels, but it had glitter on the cover and claimed to be fantasy.

I don't even remember what it was called (it was a series of short stories), I just didn't like it. And it was technically fantasy. It was just fantasy with a complete focus on romance.

There have been others, but that's the only one that sticks out. Covers are pretty amazing these days, much so more than I was a kid/teen/young adult.

(Of course, the terrible covers are a million times worse than they used to be.)

  1. I'm sorry you ended up with a book you didn't like because of the cover. Nora Roberts name is synonymous with romance--even her mystery series set in the future that she writes under another name. I used to avoid her books like the plague during the two decades I refused to read romance heavy books.

I do agree, there are some amazing covers out there nowadays. I hope you have a great weekend, Shannon! Thanks for sharing!

    1. Oh, I knew exactly what I was in for and bought it anyway. It was a hard lesson, but I learned it!
I genuinely don't enjoy romance novels. I've given them my fair share of chances (even in more recent years).

  2. I agree that covers are so much better now than when I was younger!! It seems insane. But amazing and I'm happy because some of the art is gorgeous. I honestly wish there was a way to buy book art as prints because some of the art is good enough to be framed.

Awesome answer! Hope you have a wonderful weekend! :)

    1. It does seem really weird. I'm guessing it's because more artists have access to having a chance of illustrating covers these days.

  5. Like Duh! 😁 Not sure I'd go with a cover buy by Nora Roberts hating romance but I think it's safe to say we've all made a foolish purchase in the past! At least it had glitter! ♥️

  6. The way I look at it is this - if care is put into the covers, there's a better chance care is taken with the story itself.
