Bookish and Not-So-Bookish Thoughts is a weekly blogging event hosted by Bookishly Boisterous. It allows book bloggers (and non-book bloggers) to write about pretty much anything, bookish or otherwise (i.e. share exciting plans for the weekend, rants on things they’ve encountered during the week, etc.).1. A hurricane may or may not be coming. For some reason, last week, I thought this one had already veered off and done it's own thing, only to find out that NOPE.... Irma is just now hitting Puerto Rico. Sooo, yeah. Hopefully everyone will stay safe. (We have family in Richmond, so if we need to evacuate, we have a place to stay.)
2. Gas prices are completely outrageous right now. It was just under $2 and now it's a solid $2.50 and climbing. I really hate that someone is making a killing off people's fear and potential suffering. (I'm in Virginia. There is a solid chance of it hitting us, but it's about a week off. The price hike started LAST week.)
3. [UPDATE] If you are one of the first 1000 people to join this bookclub, you receive a free kindle copy of the book First They Killed My Father. I've tested and verified this myself. It takes a couple of days to receive the book, but they do send it. This is possibly US only.
Currently a little over 800 members.
Until next time .~*💘Shannon
Oh, I hope you stay safe...I hate those hurricanes, and while I have never experienced any personally, we have earthquakes here. Not that often, though.
ReplyDeleteHere are MY BOOKISH/NOT SO BOOKISH THOUGHTS
Right now projections look like it won't hit us too terribly, but you never can tell.
DeleteCool about the book club! ... im in Texas so yeah we are keeping an eye on the weather and gas prices! ♥️
ReplyDeleteIf you joined, I hope you have received your copy! I haven't read it yet, but seems interesting.
DeleteI hope you continue to stay safe in TX!
I hope the storm missed you. I never quite understand gas prices, but I do remember a few years ago when it was around $4 here, so I'm not going to complain too much.
ReplyDeleteI'm in coastal Virginia (not to be confused with the Eastern Shore) and it moved to the west coast of Florida so likely we'll just have some more rain towards the middle to end of the week.
DeleteEek, $4!!! O_O
