This week's topic: Bookmark

I primarily use an ereader so...

Though, pre-ereader, I definitely used various playing cards, Magic the gathering cards, Digimon cards, and Pokemon cards.

I actually lost my FAVORITE Magic card in a library book back in 2002 or 2003. :(
It was some set that had a little story line going. About a human woman and a cat-woman who were enemies, but then one got hurt and the other helped her and they became friends.
I do have the other two floating around somewhere, but I lost the favorite one.

Unfortunately, when we moved in March, a lot of things have been misplaced and I haven't been able to find any of my Magic cards (few that there were) since then.

I did find one portion of my Pokemon card collection, but they aren't even my favorites or much worth noting. (Though I do have an instagram picture from the last physical book I read.)

  1. Pokemon cards were definitely great to use as bookmarks. I still read a lot of paperbacks and hardcovers, but my favorite bookmarks I don't use because I don't want to damage them. LOL!!
Thanks for joining and sharing your favorite.

    1. I don't blame you on the bookmarks! I hardly ever read paper books anymore. I only read You by Caroline Kepnes because I couldn't find it on sale or at any of my overdrive libraries! I took my kids to the library one day and I just decided to suck it up and get the physical book! (It was worth it.)

  2. I read mostly e-books now too, but I still love collecting bookmarks. They come in handy now and then. :-)

I hope you eventually find your lost Magic cards! My daughter is just getting into the Pokemon cards. She likes anything having to do with Pokemon.

    Thanks for sharing!

    1. I know they are around. I saw them when we first moved in and I moved them somewhere out of the way for safekeeping... and now I can't find them!

My daughter has been obsessed with Pokemon (specifically Pikachu) since she was 4! She's actually not as into them as much anymore :( but I gave most of my cards to her years ago. I still have all my original fire set (pre-Johto), my Japanese ones, and a few smatterings of random ones that I've always liked. Though looking at this set I refound, I don't care much about this set and if she or my son wanted, they could have them!

  3. The use of cards is a great idea for a bookmark. That stinks that you lost a favorite in a library book!

    1. I'm still kicking myself. It was about 15 years ago and I was too embarrassed to ask for a ride to the library and to go pick up the book it was left in once I realized!

NOW- I would never hesitate to do that, but at the time, the thought gave me complete anxiety!

  4. I read a lot of e-books and audio books now. I do still read paperbacks too, but I've always been terrible at actually using bookmarks.

    1. I've never used bookmarks much. I usually read mass market paperback versions and hated the bookmarks sticking out (because they get bent and torn). The discovery that playing cards were the perfect size and sturdier than your traditional bookmarks was revolutionary for me.
