Bookish and Not-So-Bookish Thoughts is a weekly blogging event hosted by Bookishly Boisterous. It allows book bloggers (and non-book bloggers) to write about pretty much anything, bookish or otherwise (i.e. share exciting plans for the weekend, rants on things they’ve encountered during the week, etc.).
1. It's been a pretty shitty week.
2. Last Thursday, Animas (a Johnson & Johnson company) announced that they were leaving the insulin pump business. My daughter spent days and weeks going over her options and decided on an Animas pump. She (and the thousands of people who also use these pumps) are deeply upset that this option is getting taken off the market because they are being forced to get a new pump within three months. We were one of the "lucky" ones. Her warranty doesn't expire until 2021, so she is eligible for a free pump from the company they made arrangements with. My husband has a friend from work with a Type 1 child... they were not so lucky. They've only had the pump for two years (pumps are good for at least four years) so they have to pay out of pocket for a new one.
3. The city rejected my "excuse" for trying to get out of jury duty. (I am the primary caregiver to a non-school age child, don't have adequate babysitting, and only one vehicle.) So that's tomorrow.
4. Starting last Sunday my husband was very ill. After two solid days of fighting with him, I finally got him to go to the doctor. He had an infection and it was pretty bad. We ended up having to go to the emergency room (weekend) and had to pay some out of pocket. :(
