This week's topic: book they made a movie of
This one is tough. Most of my favorites have already been filmed!
Honorable mention to a book that has been filmed, but should be redone and filmed properly...
I still haven't seen this one, but I was really disappointed that they didn't start it in black and white. That's a major plot point in the book and I always imagined it that way - even as a kid.

If you haven't read this one, this book is amazing.
It was a bit difficult to get into because the narrative is hard to follow. Once I got used to and found the rhythm, it was beautiful.

I haven't seen The Giver movie, either. But I agree - it should be done properly. I imagined it in black and white at the beginning, too.
ReplyDeleteI think it's really silly because all film is digital and they actually pay people to recolor films to make them look "more real". This was something that wouldn't have been too hard! AND... it's only for a small portion of the movie.
DeleteEverybody'a posting books I haven't read yet. My daughter enjoyed The Giver, but didn't want to see the movie.
ReplyDeleteI'll probably watch it eventually.
DeleteI haven't read these two books yet. Life After Life, sounds like a great one.
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear that The Giver wasn't filmed the way you imagined. Hopefully there will be a remake one day.
Thanks for stopping by and joining!
I love Life After Life. It's definitely a book you need to set time aside for. It's not a set and forget, it needs to be read in large chunks (or even all at once - if possible!)
DeleteI'm actually not too torn over The Giver. It just seems a very weird thing to omit since it's actually a major plot point!
The Giver was OK. Not great, but not entirely terrible either. I have a feeling we'll get a reboot in ten year.
ReplyDeleteI haven't read either of these. And I had a hard time choosing, too, because so many have already been made into movies.
ReplyDeleteI haven't read Life After Life, but I want to. I haven't seen The Giver movie either. I don't know that I remember much about the book--it's been so long since I read it. I doubt I would even notice how different the book is from the movie if I watched it.
