My Favorite ... Book Mom

My Favorite.. is a weekly meme hosted by Maureen’s Books. In this meme we share every week something we love with each other. Because let’s face it.. The world can be a dark place and it’s time to share something positive. For more info: My Favorite Meme.

This week's topic: book mom

Thinking this one over made me realize I don't read a lot of books with moms in them. Or they are there, but they are background or very, very eccentric in the bad way.

That said, I was able to think up a few.

Okay, this is a terrible gif, but I had trouble finding one that focused on Marilla. 

Marilla Cuthbert was no nonsense, a bit strict, and overly harsh at times, but seeing the relationship blossom between her and her adopted daughter was wonderful. I like how she started softening and letting her guard down. She fought for Anne to stay in school and not even think about dating or marriage until she graduated! (That's pretty progressive for the time period!)

It's been a few years since I've read just the first book, but while reading it... Catelyn is the character I most related to. She had to deal with a lot, but handled it with dignity and loved her children fiercely.

And of course.... Everybody's favorite.

I'm not the huge Potterhead that most people are, but I did enjoy the series.

But for real, even if someone didn't like the series, how can you not love Molly Weasley?

Also a shout out to Caroline Ingalls. Granted, the TV!Caroline is a lot more bad ass and feminist than book!Caroline, I think she does have a special place in a lot of people's hearts.
