When meeting with friends, do your discussions usually turn to books?Maria @A Night's Dream of Books
Not really. I can only recall one time recently where a conversation with a friend turned to a book. (Night - Elie Wiesel) And we were more talking about politics.
Most of my friends aren't big readers. The ones that are... well, we tend to have different tastes. I can only think of two people who I share a lot of similar reading tastes with. One lives halfway across the country (to the north) and the other lives across an entire ocean!! I think if we met up, we would discuss books and make recommendations, but the people around me. We all kind of do our own thing.

DeleteI am in between with my friends some of them love books like me and some don't even read. Thank you so much for stopping by my blog hop.
ReplyDeleteI wish I had more local ones that enjoyed a broader range of books.
DeleteOh well, that's what the internet is for! *^-^*
Thanks for stopping by!
It's kind of sad when you don't share the same reading tastes as your friends. I'm always a little bit stumped when friends on Facebook (acquaintances from my past) ask for book recommendations because my first thought is "Well what kinds of books do you like to read?" Because I can give thousands of recommendations, but they could all be horrible suggestions for that person.
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend. - Katie
I used to try to have a few "universal" books on the tip of my tongue, but it's been a while since anyone asked for a recommendation. I'm always hesitant because I have recommended books that I love and had someone message me after reading and go "what the hell did you just have me read?" D:
DeleteDo you run into the problem where the person asking for a recommendation actually has something in mind, but still wants people to guess at what it is? Those are the ones I normally come across. They are too picky by limiting themselves to one genre* and then shoot everything down OR have read it already!
(*There is nothing wrong with preferring one genre, but if you have something specific in mind, it's better to go to Goodreads or even Reddit. You will have a much more broad audience than just your friends who may not have the same tastes!)
I talk books with some friends, but not all of my friends. And even those who do read, we don't always talk about books.
ReplyDeleteI'm in the same situation! There's a teacher at my school whom I see pretty often, and occasionally she will mention a book she's read. But we don't really DISCUSS books. Besides, from the few books she's mentioned to me, I can tell her reading tastes are different from mine.
ReplyDeleteI think most of us bookworms who blog tend to have our book discussions online! Lol.
Thanks for sharing! Also, thanks for commenting on my own BBH post!! <3 :)
Aw bummer. I love that I can talk books with my local friends even if we don't read the exact same things.
