Tuesday Tops is my combined posts of Top 5 Tuesday and Top 10 Tuesday
Top 5 Tuesday
Top 5 Tuesday is hosted by Bionic Bookworm.
Tropes I've had enough of
This one was actually harder than I actually thought it would be. They are not in a particular order.
Well, I mean, basically this comic.
More specifically...
Love Triangles
Love triangles are definitely my least favorite.
They are rarely well done.
Thankfully, they seem to be dying off in popularity.

Basically a flaw that's not a flaw or only there to prove that a character isn't a Mary Sue (but usually a strong indicator that they are in fact a Sue.)
I guess I'm just not a die hard romantic, but I don't really believe in love at first sight so this one annoys me.
This is a sub-trope of Informed Flaw, but it's probably the most used one so I'm counting it separately.
I think I've ranted on here about how much I had angst.Love Triangles

Top 10 Tuesday
Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January of 2018.
It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together.

Gone With the Wind is also the longest book I've ever read! I keep seeing Outlander on the lists this week and I really want to get into that series soon

I do love Outlander, but have struggled to get into the following book. I picked it up as an audiobook in hopes that it will help because I've heard the rest of the series is really good (even if book 2 is a slog).
DeleteI completely forgot about Mists of Avalon when compiling my list. It was from my pre-book journalling days and so not on my Goodreads log. A Game of Thrones and Deathly Hallows both made my list however.
ReplyDeleteI am not a huge fan of insta-love either.
It's a long time favorite of mine, which is the only reason I remembered to include it. I know there HAVE to be other books I've read that are similar in length because I used to almost exclusively read books that were 700+ in pages. It was just before I started recording it.
DeleteIn hindsight, Eye of the World should probably be a different Wheel of Time book, I read up through the 5th one and they got progressively larger. I just didn't want to include more than one per series for this.
Not a big fan of love triangles either. And loved that Instagram post!
ReplyDeleteGabaldon's and Martin's books are huge!
I don't mind them so much when they are well done, but they are usually just ... bleh. You know who that person will end up with and it's just tedious.
DeleteLol, yeah, they are. I have only read one each, or they easily could have been the entire list!
Quite a few Diana Gabaldon novels made it to my TTT post this week. I love her books.

Unfortunately, I have only read the one, but also chose to just do one per series. :)
DeleteLove triangle and instalove are some I usually can't stand either!
